About Our Visit to Govan Stones and Fairfield Heritage Centre

On Monday we braved the elements in order to visit Govan Stones and the Fairfield Heritage Centre with some of our wonderful clients and volunteers (and one dog!) During the visit we have the opportunity to tour both venues and then regroup for sandwiches, a cup of tea and a good natter. With Befriending Week coming up next week we took the opportunity to have a discussion about what befriending means to each of us. It was wonderful to hear the impact befriending has had on the lives of both our clients and our volunteers.

Mask wearing aside the afternoon gave us a real taste of normality. For many of the clients who attended this was their first outing since the beginning of the pandemic. Having the opportunity to share a cup of tea, a chat and a few laughs was wonderful! This event was the first one supported by the funding we have received from the ASDA Foundation to help us get our activities ‘back on track’ after lockdown. We were absolutely thrilled to hold an in-person event once again to give our clients an opportunity to come together and socialise beyond Zoom.

We are already looking forward to planning future in-person events to give our clients and volunteers the opportunity to see more of the sights Glasgow has to offer!
