Meet the Team: Kinga and Sophie

This is the first in a series of ‘Meet the Team’ blog posts over the coming months to introduce the team! First up we have Kinga, our new Bookkeeper/Payroll Administrator. We caught up with her this week to find out a bit more about how she’s finding the job so far.

Hello everyone, my name is Kinga! I joined The No.1 Befriending Agency in July and I am a Bookkeeping/ Payroll Administrator. It was really exciting to begin my new journey as a part of an extremely talented and passionate team.

It is really fascinating to see the happiness on people's faces and new friendships they have created over this challenging time during the pandemic, thanks to the hard work of our dedicated team and Volunteers. I am really pleased to be a part of it and to be able to make a difference in people lives. This gives me a boost and makes me want to go out and spread happiness!

My previous work is not very much related to Volunteering, however, I used to be a Restaurant Assistant Manager and always loved working with people and going the extra mile to put a smile on their faces. Small gestures could be a big thing for some and could bring a lot of joy and happiness.

Another new addition to the team in July was Sophie our Communications and Fundraising Officer. This is what she had to say about her time at No.1 so far.

I joined No.1 as a Fundraising Volunteer in the latter part of 2020. I really enjoyed my experience as a volunteer and was so excited when the opportunity arose to join the No.1 team as a Fundraising and Communications Officer.

I have loved working with the team and everyone has been so helpful and welcoming. I also still get the chance to work with the Fundraising Volunteers regularly which is great!

My highlight so far has been running our recent crowdfunding campaign for our befriending events. It was really rewarding to see the lovely comments left by those donating, about the importance of our work, especially during the pandemic.

The last three months have really flown by and I’m really looking forward to the next few in the run-up to Christmas!
