Join Our ‘Go the Distance’ Challenge - 1st-31st July!

It is an extremely exciting time here as we expand our client base to isolated and lonely adults who are over 18. As a result, we are stepping up our fundraising efforts and would really appreciate some help...

The 'Go the Distance' challenge is asking for participants to get sponsored to travel 62 miles in a month. Walk, cycle, run - the method is totally up to the individual (although driving does not count). There is even the opportunity to double or nothing - ask your sponsors to double their sponsorship and you travel 124 miles in a month but, be warned, fail and you get nothing!

This mission came about once we discovered that there are currently 100,000 older adults in Scotland who feel lonely all the time. This is a shocking number and does not include all isolated adults over 18, so that figure is even higher! If 100k people are converted into 100k metres, that is the equivalent of 62 miles.

If you or any of your colleagues, community members or friends might be interested, anyone can visit befriend.org.uk/go-the-distance to sign up and receive their fundraising pack. This information is also on the flyer, available here.

We look forward to welcoming you to our group of fit folk. Please follow along on Twitter and Facebook #GoThe Distance 62.
